Finly is a free Copilot Money alternative that runs on Android, in any browser. It never connects to a bank: you record spending by voice or typing, and it keeps a khata for money lent and borrowed alongside investment tracking. It installs to the home screen like an app.
Copilot Money is a paid, design-led budgeting app for the Apple ecosystem. iPhone, iPad and Mac, with a web version added more recently that covers some of the experience rather than replacing it. It connects to your accounts, categorises transactions intelligently, and presents the result better than almost anything else in the category. There is no Android app.
Where Copilot is genuinely better
If you are on an iPhone and willing to pay, Copilot is a better app than Finly. That is worth saying plainly. The categorisation is smart, the design is exceptional, the interactions are polished in a way a one-person project is not going to match, and the automatic import means you do not have to remember anything.
It also does things Finly has no version of: proper net worth tracking across connected accounts, investment account syncing, and detailed reporting.
The case for Finly here is not that it is better. It is that Copilot is unavailable to you, or that you will not pay a subscription, or that you will not connect a bank. If none of those apply, buy Copilot.

When Finly is the better fit
- You use Android. This is the whole reason most people are on this page. There is no Copilot for Android, and a web version is not the same as the app the reviews are about.
- You are outside a supported market. A sync-first app with no coverage of your banks is a subscription for a feature that does not run.
- You share a household across platforms. An Apple-only tool cannot be the family's tool if half the family is not on Apple.
- You will not pay a subscription for personal finance.
- You do not want an aggregator holding your statements, which no amount of good design changes.
On the design gap, honestly
People choose Copilot for how it feels, and that is a legitimate reason to choose software. Finly is not going to win that comparison and it would be silly to claim otherwise.
What Finly optimises instead is the time between deciding to record something and it being recorded. Speaking "twelve hundred groceries" and having it filed is a different kind of good than a beautiful chart. If the reason your last tracker failed was that entry felt like work, that is the axis worth testing rather than the visual one.
Testing it without losing your data
Nothing here requires you to cancel anything. Run Finly for a month on the device Copilot does not support, or alongside it if you have both.
The specific question worth answering: does entering an expense yourself change what you spend? A lot of people find that an automatic feed they scroll through changes nothing, while the small friction of recording a purchase makes them think about it. If your experience is the opposite, Copilot's automation is genuinely worth its price.
The honest part about free
Finly is one person's project with no revenue, no support desk and no service commitment. Copilot is a funded company that owes its paying customers a working product, and that is a real difference in what you can expect when something breaks.
Your data is written to your own device first and CSV export works today, so nothing is trapped if the project stops.
Common questions
Is there a Copilot Money app for Android?
No. Copilot is built for iPhone, iPad and Mac, with a web version added more recently. There is no Android app, which is the main reason people look for an alternative.
Does Finly work on Android?
Yes. It runs in any modern browser and installs to the home screen on Android, iOS and desktop alike.
Does Finly connect to my bank like Copilot does?
No, and it never will. Every expense is entered by you, by voice or typing.
Is Finly as polished as Copilot?
No. Copilot is a design-led product from a funded team; Finly is plain and fast, built by one person. If interface quality is your deciding factor, Copilot wins that comparison.
Can I import my Copilot data?
No bulk import yet. CSV export out of Finly works.
What does Finly do that Copilot does not?
Runs on Android, costs nothing, works fully offline, keeps a khata for money lent and borrowed, takes voice entry in nine languages, and shows live Pakistan Stock Exchange quotes.
