Finly / Terms

Terms of use

The rules for using Finly, written to be understood. Where something is a real limitation it is stated as one rather than buried in a clause.

Last updated 13 September 2026. By using Finly you agree to these terms. This is a plain description of the arrangement, not legal advice.

The short version

In one paragraph

Finly is free and provided as-is. It is a tool for recording your own numbers. It is not financial advice, and the investment prices it shows come from third parties and can be wrong or delayed. Your records belong to you and you can export or delete them at any time. Keep your own copy: it runs on one server, and we do not promise it will never be unavailable or never lose data.

The service

Finly is a personal finance application provided free of charge. There is no subscription, no payment, and currently nothing to upgrade to. If that changes, existing users will be told before it affects them.

You can use it without an account to read data already on your device. Adding or editing records requires an account, because that is what sync is attached to.

Not financial advice

The important one

Finly does not give financial, investment, tax or legal advice, and nothing in it is a recommendation.

It performs arithmetic on numbers you enter, and displays prices fetched from third parties. Budgets, insights, trends, portfolio values and profit figures are descriptions of data you provided, not guidance about what to buy, sell, hold or do.

Decisions about your money are yours. If you need advice, speak to someone qualified and regulated to give it. We are not, and Finly is not a substitute for that.

Investment prices are indicative

Prices for stocks, crypto, funds and gold come from third-party providers: CoinGecko, Yahoo Finance and the Pakistan Stock Exchange. We do not produce this data and cannot vouch for it.

Assume prices may be delayed, incomplete, stale or simply wrong, and that a provider may change or withdraw access at any time. Portfolio values shown in Finly are an estimate for your own reference. Do not use them to make a trade, settle an account, or as a record of what anything is actually worth. Where it matters, check with your broker or exchange.

Your account

Acceptable use

Do not use Finly to break the law, store data you have no right to hold, attack or overload the service, attempt to reach other people's accounts, or resell access to it. Automated scraping and bulk requests against the API are not permitted.

Requests are rate limited, which is what stops password guessing at scale. If your usage looks like an attack it will be blocked, and we may suspend an account being used this way.

Your data

Your records are yours. We do not sell them, mine them, use them for advertising, or train anything on them. What is stored, and where, is set out in the privacy policy.

Keep your own copy

This is the part worth reading twice. Finly runs on one server. Its database is backed up every night and an encrypted copy is kept off that machine, but a backup is up to a day old, so changes synced since the last one can be lost if the server fails.

Treat your device as the real copy and the cloud as convenience, and export a CSV occasionally if your records matter to you. We would rather say this plainly than imply more durability than one server and a nightly backup can give.

Availability

There is no uptime guarantee. Finly is a young product on a single server, maintained by a small team. It may be unavailable for maintenance, deployment, provider problems or reasons outside our control, sometimes without warning.

Because the app is local-first, an outage generally does not stop you using it. Your data is already on your device and entries continue to work offline, syncing when the server returns. That is the design, not a promise about any particular day.

Provided as-is

Finly is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and uninterrupted or error-free operation.

To the maximum extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profits, or loss of data, arising from your use of or inability to use Finly. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Said plainly, because a disclaimer nobody reads protects nobody: this is free software offered in good faith. It can contain bugs, a sync can fail, and a number on screen can be wrong. Do not let it be the only record of anything you cannot afford to lose.

Ending it

You can stop using Finly at any time, and ask us to delete your account and its records. Deleting the app from your device does not by itself delete the server copy. Ask, and it is removed.

We may suspend or close an account that is breaking these terms, being used to attack the service, or being used to harm someone. Where it is reasonable to do so we will say why first.

We may also discontinue Finly. If that happens we will give notice and a window to export your data rather than switching it off without warning.

Changes

These terms may change as the product does. Material changes will be reflected in the date at the top and described here rather than summarised as "we updated our terms". Continuing to use Finly after a change means accepting it.

Finly is not a company. It is built and run by one person, and the rules below reflect that rather than pretending otherwise.

Operated by: Abdul Rehman, an individual based in Pakistan, operating under the name Finly. Finly is not incorporated and is not a registered company.

Governing law: The laws of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. Any dispute arising out of these terms or your use of Finly is subject to the courts of Pakistan.

If you need the operator's full postal address, for a legal notice or a formal data request, ask at the contact address below and it will be provided to you directly.

Questions about these terms, or anything else, go to [email protected]. It is read by the person who builds Finly, not a support desk, so a reply may take a few days.
